312 A BICENTENNIAL HISTORY OF MISSISSIPPI GREENVILLE CROSSING Spanning the Mississippi River and replacing the failing Benjamin G. Humphreys bridge, the Greenville Bridge was the second longest cable-stayed bridge in the United States when it opened in 2010. The project took about four years to complete and is now the third longest of its kind in the United States. The bridge is 2.5 miles long. PHOTO BY GREG CAMPBELL
