THE NORTHEAST CORNER 413 NEW ALBANY New Albany was first founded as a trading post in an area where two Chickasaw trade trails intersected and a saw mill and a grist mill were located. The birthplace of famous Mississippi author William Faulkner, the town grew and flourished as a river port, railroad town, and county seat.
