JACKSON, Miss. - In-person and mail-in absentee ballots are now available in Circuit Clerk’s Offices for the 2026 General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

To verify eligibility for absentee voting, Mississippians may utilize the Secretary of State’s Y’all Vote website, which includes an Absentee Voting FAQ, or contact their county Circuit Clerk. If eligible, ballots will be provided upon request by your Circuit Clerk.

For those who cannot visit their Circuit Clerk’s Office during the work week, Saturday in-person absentee voting will be available at Circuit Clerk’s Offices on Saturday, October 24, and Saturday, October 31, from 8:00 a.m. until noon.

Due to legislation passed during the 2026 session, in-person absentee voting will look a little different this year. Eligible voters will still use a paper absentee ballot, but instead of placing it into an envelope and then the ballot box, they’ll simply feed it directly into voting machines like they would on Election Day. These ballots will not be tabulated until election night.

Our Circuit Clerks pushed for this change to help eliminate technical issues like a voter not signing across the flap on the back of his/her envelope that would cost the person his/her vote. Our office engaged to make sure we put as many protections in place as possible to uphold the integrity of the new in-person absentee voting process.

Mississippi’s mail-in absentee voting process remains unchanged.

The last day to vote in-person absentee is Saturday, October 31. All mail-in absentee ballots must be postmarked on or before Tuesday, November 3 (Election Day).

Contact information for your county Circuit Clerk is available through the My Election Day portal. Additionally, Mississippians who cast an absentee ballot may track their ballot through My Election Day.

Mississippians who are currently registered to vote or submit voter registration applications by Monday, October 5, (in-person or postmarked), are entitled to cast a ballot in the General Election on Tuesday, November 3.
